The Board of Education adopted the proposed 2017-18 schools budget of $119,571,688, which represents a 1.14 percent ($1,346,400) increase over the current budget.
Residents will have the opportunity to vote from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16 at the Horace Greeley High School Gymnasium.
According to the board, because the budget is again below the tax cap, homeowners will receive a STAR Property Tax Rebate from the state, which will equal the STAR tax savings multiplied by a percentage, depending on income.
The proposed budget would potentially increase the utilization of technology for students and educators in the classroom, supports STEAM and problem-based learning initiatives and would provide additional health services at the high school. It responds to the Board of Educations “two Strategic Questions,” and will support 80 athletic teams while still landing below the 1.6 percent tax cap.
The proposed budget, as well as budget presentations made during Board of Education meetings this year can be found online. Printed copies of the budget will be available beginning on Monday, April 24 at each school’s main office, the front desk of the Education Center, Town Hall and the Chappaqua Public Library.
Absentee ballot information can be found here.
