The property at 64 Cabin Ridge Road includes 2.38 acres, more than 1,700 square feet of living space and recent updates, including an expansion master suite in 2001 and a new kitchen in 2015. The home has three full baths and sits near the Taconic Parkway and minutes from the Chappaqua train station.

“It’s really a hidden gem,’’ said Margot Friedlander, an agent for Coldwell Banker who is listing the property for $575,000.

Approximately 10 other log cabins are also on the road. Most of the homes started out as small cabins in the 1930s owned by the Campfire Club of America. Former President Teddy Roosevelt, one of the founders of the club, was rumored to have owned one of the homes in Chappaqua.

Friedlander’s client added a master suite in 2001. The suite now includes a walk-in closet that was formerly a bedroom. It also includes a vaulted ceiling with wood beams, a sitting room alcove with door out to a large patio and luxurious master bath.

The house was built in 1937, and the current structure includes much of the original detailing, hardwood floors and aged paneling. The Great Room has a vaulted ceiling and stone fireplace, and the kitchen was updated with granite counters, stainless steel appliances and tile floor.

“There are a lot of unique details that make this home special,’’ Friedlander said. “There are hidden closets in the walls that you don’t know are even there. One of them hides an ironing board. The attic is huge, and could be made into a beautiful loft. It’s move-in ready, but there are some things people could do with some creativity.”

The property includes a detached garage with windows that could also be used an artist’s studio.

“We’ve come a long way since Abe Lincoln’s log cabin,’’ Friedlander said. “Some potential buyers visit and say it’s too rustic. It is a log cabin, but it has all the amenities of a modern cabin.”

Friedlander sees a number of potential buyers. Downsizers who want to stay in Chappaqua will enjoy the home’s charm and convenience. Weekenders looking to retreat to Westchester County will enjoy the privacy. Younger families seeking to enroll in Chappaqua’s highly rated school district will also find it valuable. New York City commuters who want quick access will also consider it a gem.”

“You get the feeling of nature, but minutes from downtown Chappaqua,’’ Friedlander said. “It’s a street many people in Chappaqua did not know existed.”
