The middle school is right in Chappaqua's downtown.
The fire department notes that it was dispatched at around 5 a.m., and when chiefs arrived on scene, "the garbage truck was found fully involved in fire and up close to the structure."
Firefighters from Millwood and Pleasantville arrived with mutual aid, the Chappaqua Fire Department added in its remarks, which were posted on its Facebook page.
The fire department added that the truck's fire "was quickly brought under control," adding that firefighters stayed at the scene for overhaul work and to put out a dumpster fire caused by the initial blaze's heat.
Firefighters were done by 7:05 a.m., the fire department concluded in its statement.
The statement did not address what caused the fire.
