While driving on Post Road, an officer from the Scarsdale Police Department spotted White Plains resident Giovanni Salgado-Prado repeatedly crossing the double yellow line on Post Road, “almost completely entering the opposite lane of traffic.”
The officer said that during the subsequent traffic stop, Salgado-Prado initially said he was not drinking, but there was a “strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath, his eyes were glassy and bloodshot and his speech was slurred."
Salgado-Prado proceeded to fail multiple Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, and an alco-sensor reading found that his blood alcohol content was .21 percent at the scene.
Police said that Salgado-Prado was arrested and refused to submit to a breathalyzer test at Scarsdale Police Headquarters several times, stating that he wanted to “call (his) lawyer.” He was read his DWI warning three times and continued to be uncooperative with officers.
According to police, during the arrest process, Salgado-Prado was “very uncooperative,” often shouting insults, homophobic slurs and other expletives at officers. He also made numerous statements saying that “I’ll see you in court (expletive)” and was seen giving officers the middle finger repeatedly.
Salgado-Prado was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. He was also cited for moving from his lane unsafely, driving to the left of pavement markings and improper right turn at an intersection. Salgado-Prado was released and is scheduled to appear in Scarsdale Village Court on Wednesday, Nov. 27 to respond to the charges.
