WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Chelsea Clinton, daughter of former President Bill Clinton and First Lady Hillary Clinton of Chappaqua, gave birth to a baby girl she announced.

“(Husband) Marc (Mezvinsky) and I are full of love, awe and gratitude as we celebrate the birth of our daughter, Charlotte Clinton Mezvinsky,” Chelsea, 34, announced on her Twitter account at 9:32 p.m. on Friday.

The birth reportedly occurred earlier in the day Friday. Chelsea Clinton announced her pregnancy in April, a development greeted enthusiastically by both her parents, who made it clear they were eager to be grandparents for the first time.

"@BillClinton and I are over the moon to be grandparents!" Hillary Clinton tweeted on Saturday. "One of the happiest moments of our life."

In a statement late Saturday afternoon, Bill Clinton said, "Charlotte’s life is off to a good start. Chelsea is well and glowing. Marc is bursting with pride.”

Chelsea Clinton married the 36-year-old Marc Meszvinsky in 2010. They live in New York City.
