NEW CASTLE, N.Y. -- Lifestyle guru Sandra Lee headed back to surgery Tuesday for a “monster” infection, just one of several complications she has suffered since undergoing a double mastectomy, ABC News reported.

Lee, 49, is known as both a Food Network star and author and for her high-profile romance with New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo. The couple live in New Castle.

Lee was diagnosed with breast cancer in March and had the double mastectomy in May. She was hospitalized last week after feeling tightness and pain in her chest.

Lee addressed her “Facebook Family” Monday in a post, saying she had hoped to avoid further setbacks before having reconstruction surgery.

“I did my very best to avoid this (when I tell you I did everything, I mean everything – modern, Eastern and holistic) but infection is an incredible monster,” she wrote.

Battling illness is not a game, Lee said, but she was treating it like a tennis match.

“Right now the ball is in my court and it’s time for a mean backhand – and I am taking that shot,” Lee wrote, adding: “So my plan for tomorrow is game, set, match!”

An earlier post on her Facebook page said Lee has been on “an incredibly difficult road,” but has managed to “maintain her positive attitude and can-do spirit.”
