App Helps Kids Communicate At Sunshine Children's Home

OSSINING, N.Y. -- Therapeutic professionals have introduced an app called Proloquo2go at the Sunshine Children’s Home Home & Rehabilitation Center in Ossining for kids who have difficulty communicating what they want.

The app helps non-verbal children with significant cognitive and physical limitations, express their desires, such as what they want to eat for lunch, by tapping a picture on a tablet.

The technology gives a voice once they master the concept of using the tablet to request basic wants, a release said.

The Sunshine Children’s Home provides children with complex medical needs a safe, loving home, school experience, social connections and recreation. 

The facility is located at 15 Spring Valley Road, Ossining, N.Y.
