CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. – Following in the heeled footsteps of Reese Witherspoon, the Random Farms Kids Theater will debut its rendition of “Legally Blonde” with Chappaqua residents Jonah Halperin and Ally Kuhn among the 130 young people taking the stage in four different casts.

“'Legally Blonde' is a true ensemble show. Every cast member plays multiple roles and is constantly on stage,” Random Farms Kids Theater director Alexis Grausz said. It will debut Saturday, Jan. 26, at 3 p.m. in the Tarrytown Music Hall with performances this weekend and the first weekend in February.

The musical choice of “Legally Blonde” was well calculated, Grausz said.

“Because we have four casts to fill, it is important to us to choose musicals that appeal to a wide base of students,” she said. “With the movie with Reese Witherspoon, and the successful run of 'Legally Blonde, the Musical' on Broadway, I think our students have been extremely eager to do this show for a long time.”

Include Halperin and Kuhn on that list. Halperin plays the role of “Child 1,” while Kuhn plays “Female 1.” They both play multiple characters.

“I’ve always liked the movie, but I definitely prefer the show,” said Kuhn, a 17-year old senior at Horace Greeley High School. “The storyline is amazing, and the writing is, too.”

Halperin, who is all of 8, is already a veteran. “Legally Blonde” will be his 10th show.

“This performance is particularly special because even though it’s obviously not Broadway, it feels just like it,” he said.

Halperin has had parts in the movies “Contest,” “TV Baby” and “Malcom” and done commercials for the New York Lottery and Tylenol.

Both Chappaqua performers are held in high regard by their director.

“Jonah continues to impress all of the teenagers in this show. He is the youngest performer in the cast and never misses a beat,” said Grausz. “He is absolutely hilarious in this show.”

Grausz’s praise for Kuhn was equally impressive.

“Ally has done shows with us since she was in fifth grade and always proves to be on of the most reliable and consistent performers we have,” she said. “I love when Ally is in a show because I know I have a real leader.”

Kuhn and Halperin are joined by 130 peers with similar talent and energy, and Grausz can’t wait for Opening Night.

“I am so proud of how hard all of our students have been working on this show,” she said. “I think I am most excited for them to get out there in front of an audience and share all of this with their friends and families.”
