Residents will soon see an increasing number of solar panels on many roofs thanks to a new project called Solarize New Castle that was undertaken and promoted by the New Castle Sustainability Advisory Board, with partners in the Town of Somers, Solarize Westchester and the solar installer, Direct Energy Solar.
The board pursued the program because of the opportunity to provide low-cost solar technology residents, driving down energy rates and lowering dependence on fossil fuels. To date more than 50 homes have taken advantage of the program that not only lowers power bills, but also helps with climate change, pollution reduction and is having a powerful effect on neighbors and their energy usage.
Under the program, New Castle residents are guaranteed the lowest pricing the program has to offer. Residents and business owners can learn more during the happy hour from 5 to 7 p.m.
For residents who can't attend the happy hour, the city will present a 30 minute webinar where they can learn more about solar technology and the details of the Solarize New Castle Program at noon on Tuesday, March 1. To register for the event, click here.
