Chappaqua Will See More Scorching Heat, Round Of Severe Storms

There will be no relief from the heat in the area on Thursday, but there is likely to be an added twist -- severe storms.

Thursday's high temperature will climb to around 90 in most spots, with some parts of the area farther south seeing a high between 92 and 94 degrees and a real-feel temperature of around 100 degrees with mostly cloudy conditions.

Thunderstorms are expected to move through the region in the afternoon. Those storms could produce gusty winds, hail and heavy rainfall, and could result in minor flooding, according to the National Weather Service.

With high humidity continuing, a new Air Quality Alert has been issued for Thursday. It will be in effect from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

A Flash Flood Watch has been issued for Southern Westchester from noon Thursday through the afternoon.

After an overnight low of between 72 and 74 degrees, Thursday's high temperature will climb to around 90 in most spots, with some parts of the area farther south seeing a high between 92 and 94 degrees and a real-feel temperature of around 100 degrees with mostly cloudy conditions.

The chance of precipitation is 60 percent. 

New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch are likely, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

There is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Thursday night, mainly before 10 p.m.

The outlook for Friday calls for a cloudy day with a chance of storms after 2 p.m. and a high temperature at or near 90 degrees.
