Advisory Warns Of Black Ice, Slick Spots In Chappaqua

With temperatures forecast to fall into the upper 20s overnight and residual water from the rain and snow melt of Thursday on area roadways and sidewalks, there is the potential for black ice formation overnight through the early morning across interior portions the Hudson Valley, according to the National Weather Service.

The greatest threat for black ice formation is on any untreated surfaces, the weather service said.

If you are out in the area overnight, be on the lookout for slick spots on roadways and sidewalks.

It will be partly cloudy overnight with wind-chill values between 20 and 25.

There is a slight chance of rain showers after 3 p.m. Friday, with some snow possible after 5 p.m. during a partly sunny but windy day with highs in the upper 30s and the wind-chill factor as low as 20.

New Year's Eve Day will be partly sunny, with a high in the mid 30s and wind-chills values between 30 and 30. There is a slight chance of snow showers, mixing with rain after midnight, then gradually ending, according to the weather service.
