What I was getting at is whether or not these youths came here alone or with their parents-as far as I am concerned, if the parents bring them here, the crime is the parents' crime-these kids are described as unaccompanied minors-what exactly does that mean? Additionally, are these unaccompanied minors violent or what? Lately, the population residing at Lincoln Hall had been violent, based on the reports of police visits to the facility. I wouldn't want seasoned juvenile delinquents mixing with youths with no history of theft, assault etc. Some information is missing here View Comment
I was more stuck on whether or not Lincoln Hall is mixing the 60% who are 60% innocent, well-behaved undocumented kids, with the 40% local juvenile delinquents, at least this how Lincoln Hall describes their current population. These kids are supposed to be unaccompanied kids who come here from another country. They didn't come here with their parents? Where are the parents? Are they really mixing kids who've never gotten into trouble, with a 40% criminal element? That doesn't sound like a good idea-there has to be something Lincoln Hall is not telling us.
Mr. Lang is very lucky indeed that he hasn't had to agonize over having a child who needs the help of the wonderful special ed teachers and teachers aides in the North Salem school district. In a business setting, it's possible to to say "from now on, you have to cut your travel and entertainment expenses in half". But Mr Lang may not be aware that you can't force children with learning disabilities to learn what they have to on schedule, and those children have parents who pay taxes, too-want to tell them that it's a waste of time and everyone's tax money to attempt to educate their children. Wow-you know it's possible that she will end up pleading "guilty" to a lesser charge, as the truck driver did-makes both of the equally at fault, even thought she caused the accident, and was really the one who left the scene of the accident (what was the truck driver to do-pull over and hope that the police caught up with her?)
