I for one am tired of an opponent running against a candidate by spending all his time bashing the other. Other the past months we have heard very little of Mr. Falk's own ideas. Only that he is an anti--Katz. Sounds more like he will be a rubber stamp for Shelly Silver and the Dems as opposed to bringing anything new to the Assembly. View Comment
Old news...how about looking at facts and what he has and will do for the area and the state. Frankly, at least he is out there speaking his own mind. In the meantime Mr. Falk (who I assume you are supporting), has nothing to say that is not anti-Katz. He has no ideas, and he is only going to be a mouth piece for Shelly Silver. With Assemblyman Katz, you know where he stands and what you get...with Mr. Falk, not so much. Enough with the mud slinging. Let's have a real debate and see who ends up on top. View Comment
What a joke...of course they endorsed him. It's not like there is another Republican running. All this flip flopping is making me dizzy. Susan Siegal only changed parties so she could run...bottom line is she is actually a centrist and believes in herself and in doing right by the community. As a registered Republican, I believe I'm actually going to vote for Susan. Why, because otherwise the town board will just ram everything through with their majority, at least she will cause honest debate and hopefully a transparent town council. View Comment
Sorry MisterBill2...I wholeheartedly disagree. The fact that there is a Jewish population should be enough to not campaign. If someone came to my door on Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the year, I would not be very happy. How would you feel about someone knocking on your door on Easter to secure your vote? If the youth soccer league can take the day off, even though only 14% of the players are Jewish, a candidate should do the same and honor those of the Jewish religion. To say that the Jewish population is only 14% is ridiculous, and can mean the difference between Mr. Murphy winning and not. I would hope Mr. Murphy or his campaign staff see this and actually apologize for their actions, but I don't see that happening. View Comment
All I hear from Mr. Falk is blah, blah, blah...he talks about jobs, taxes, etc., but he offers no solutions, just that we need better this and better that. I want to hear what he is going to do. Also, go to his website...he can't even keep it current. There is a recent post, but before that it has been months since before that. Come on, if you even think you have a change against Dr. Katz (which you don't), you better get moving. View Comment
Well, we can really use it on Wren Place...hasn't been touched in about 10 years. Majors cracks and holes and was dug up 4 years ago for sewers and basically patched. Supposedly on the list...hopefully it gets done. View Comment
Please read the referendum. It is more than just security. It is all essential items to making the schools safe and up to date. Frankly, for the $50-60/year that it will raise taxes, that is a drop in the bucket to keep my kids safe and comfortable in a location they spend 6-8 hours per day. I don't know anyone that actually has kids in the school that has told me they are against this. View Comment
FYI...as a stipulation of the lawsuit...it could not be appealed. The Yorktown Daily Voice needs to get hold of the complete lawsuit and bring the complete story to light. This story makes it seem like DiBartolo/Cole are being magnanimous and not appealing. THEY CAN'T APPEAL!!! View Comment
WOW....how dumb can you get? I hope this reporter is fired. It's no wonder the Daily Voice closed some of their locational issues. They should all be closed. This is the worst excuse for information, which by the way can go for days without new articles. View Comment
“In terms of students that are doubled up with friends or family within the district, we have a different method for supporting those kids,” Herzog said. “As long as they’re not contributing to the income of that household, then they can be declared as homeless. "
Really...just because they are living with friends or family does not make them homeless. Are you tracking down the parents or legal guardian to see where they live? 42 students that are not techically residents is the equivalent of 2 elementary school classes. Quite a bit of money between teachers, supplies, resources, etc. We are looking at a budget issue this year. Let's make sure all students are in the proper district??? View Comment
All schools are NOT up and running. Lakeland is closed to students until Wednesday. Please Yorktown, very often all you hear about YCSD. There are two school districts in Yorktown. LCSD is even bigger. Please try to remember us. View Comment
@James...can you explain what you mean? Are you saying that this has now been subcontracted out to R&S Waste Services? If so is there proof? I would like to see if this is legal if it is indeed so. And also, is there someone at R&S tied to Yorktown. Thanks View Comment
I'm still unclear how this is going to work. He needs to buy trucks and hire employees but he doesn't have the money. The bid is awarded Jan 1. How will he buy and hire before then, (2 months) if he doesn't have the money. Sounds like a recipe for disaster and a bad decisiion by the board. View Comment
Let's see...5 trucks and 4 employees. How does that work? Doesn't each truck need at least 2 people. And how much is 3 trucks going to set him back. He is getting $2.49 million from the town of Yorktown to buy 3 trucks and pay 12 employees. Don't forget insurance on the trucks, probably extra liability insurance overall. I think the people of the town of yorktown deserve to see the bids and really understand how this was decided. View Comment
Just using their own words it seems to me they are "the new guy" He doesn't have the money to purchase the trucks and hire the employees, but will after the award of the bid. Not sound business practice.
"Competiton Carting Owner Brian Amico said he will be able to do the job for cheaper because he has less overhead than C.R.P., which has more than 570 employees. Amico said his company currently has four employees.
Amico is proposing to do the job with eight trucks and and 12 employees. He said he does not have the money to purchase the trucks and hire the employees now, but will be able to after being awarded the bid. "
