“When you’re at that age, you feel like it’s the most important thing in the world,” said Resnick, who graduated from the high school in 2006. “You treat every broadcast like it’s the Super Bowl or the NBA Finals.”

More than a decade later, Resnick, a lifelong New Rochelle resident, is several steps closer to that becoming reality.

Since the Westchester Knicks started play in 2014, Resnick has been the play-by-play announcer for the NBA D-League squad’s home games.

Throughout the season, he keeps up with players and coaches, and when they take the floor, Resnick guides viewers through the action, broadcasted on MSG, MSG+, MSG2 and YouTube.

“It’s been tremendous to work for the franchise and to be associated with the NBA and the New York Knicks,” he said.

Resnick got his start at New Rochelle High School covering football and basketball games for the school's Cable 77 channel at a time when the school produced “a ton of collegiate and professional athletes,” including future NFLers Ray Rice and Courtney Greene and college basketball standout Geoff McDermott.

Resnick went on to study broadcast journalism at Syracuse University, where he ran the gamut extracurricularly, working for two radio stations and a television studio on campus. He hosted a sports talk show and continued calling play-by-play, seeing Syracuse’s men’s lacrosse team win the national championship and the men’s basketball team reach the Sweet 16.

After graduating in 2010, Resnick started covering high school sports for MSG Varsity, which he still does when not calling games for the Knicks, who play in the Westchester County Center.

“For a profession and a career that will typically take people around the country, I’ve been fortunate to work near home,” said Resnick, who is not sure where his career will take him next, but now embraces his current job with the Westchester Knicks.

“We always joke that it’s not just the players looking for their call-up,” Resnick said. “Everybody there is getting an opportunity to work in a professional environment to hopefully build their career to the next level."
