Orozco Tries For Medal In All-Around At Olympics

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. – John Orozco goes for a medal in the men’s gymnastics individual all-around event Wednesday at the 2012 Summer Olympics.

The 19-year-old and teammate Danell Leyva qualified for the event after their stellar performances in the team qualifying event Saturday. Orozco will perform at 10:30 a.m. EDT.

Orozco, who trained at World Cup Gymnastics in Chappaqua, and the U.S. men’s gymnastics team finished in first place in the team qualifying event, but failed to medal in the finals with a fifth-place finish.

“Can't make excuses for myself but I'm very proud of team USA,” Orozco posted on his official Facebook page. “We fought and gave it our all. I'm thankful to be here and represent USA as an Olympian. One more day to go for me and even if it is Individual All Around I wanna do my best for #TeamUSA Also a MASSIVE THANKS for all support from my fans, friends and family!”
