PORT CHESTER, N.Y. The equation was simple for Horace Greeley on Thursday.
In order for the Quakers to win their wrestling match with host, Port Chester, they had to pin in the 195 and 285-pound weight classes. Greeleys Scott Wymbs was receiving a forfeit in the 220-pound bout.
Billy Marino and Brett Lobien registered pins, rallying Greeley to a 39-37 win over Port Chester.
The Quakers improved to 17-6 in what is their best season this millennium.
Marino secured his pin at 3:36 of the 195-pound bout and Lobien needed just 1:08 to pin at 285.
Kirby Atlas had a big win, 3-2 over Joey Rodriguez, in the 113-pound match. Rodriguez is one of the Rams top wrestlers. Jon Russo recorded a pin at 126 pounds.
Kolbe Jendzejec rallied from a third-period deficit to pin in the 138-pound match.
Kolbe was down several points with one minute left in the match and turned his opponent to his back for the pin, DeBellis said. Some guys just compete better when the pressure is on them. Kolbe is one of those people.
