Horace Greeley Football Coach Possibly Suspended

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. — Horace Greeley High School football coach Bill Tribou has been absent from school for multiple weeks and no timetable has been set for his return, according to a joint statement from Principal Andrew Selesnick and Athletic Director Steve Young.

"As is always the case, out of respect for the privacy of a staff member, we cannot discuss the nature of Mr. Tribou's absence, and in this particular case, we cannot be sure of the duration of his absence," the statement said.

While no reason was given for the coach's absence, parents and players suspect suspension, which they say they will address with school district administrators at Tuesday night's Board of Education meeting.

"Perhaps through our individual and collective team action we can achieve the return of Bill Tribou to the classroom and the football field," said a letter signed by "Players and Parents of Greeley Football 2012."

In addition to attending Tuesday night's meeting, the letter also urged players, past and present, to email district administrators in support of Tribou.
