Greeley Ice Hockey Skates Past Nyack/Tappan Zee

WEST NYACK, N.Y. - The Horace Greeley ice hockey team continued its winning ways Wednesday, opening a quick 4-0 lead en route to a 5-2 victory over a team from Nyack/Tappan Zee at the Palisades Ice Arena.

Owen Gatto scored twice to jump start the Quakers and teammates Sam Miskind, Nick Girardi and Scott Jakubowicz also scored as Greeley outshot Nyack 35-23. The Quakers defeated Nyack/TZ 6-1 earlier this season.

Neil Hershman had 23 saves in goal for the Quakers to earn the win, Blake Davis had two assists, and Jakubowitz, Gatto and Miskind each assisted on a goal.

The Quakers, now 7-2-1, play the Pearl River Pirates Friday at 7:10 p.m. at Brewster Ice Arena in what is expected to be a close game between two of the most improved teams in Westchester/Hudson Valley ice hockey.
