Greeley Girls Swim Team Wins Section One Championship

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. -- The Greeley Girls of Horace Greeley High School managed to beat 30 teams in a Section 1 Swimming Championship on Monday with a score of 272 to win the Section 1 Championship for the fourth straight year.

Ursuline High came in second with 222 points and Fox Lane High came in third with 218.

Team member Emma Hadley, was Section 1 Champion in the 100 Fly with a time of 55.84 an All-American Consideration which reset her 100 fly Greeley record. She was also the Section 1 Champion for the fourth year in the 100 back with a time of 54.62, an automatic All-American time also lowering her Greeley backstroke record. 

These were among the top finalists:

• Cate Sawkins -- 200 free and 100, 5th place in both

• Rachel Hellman -- 50 free and 100 free, 6th place in both

• Amanda McHugh -- 100 fly, 4th place

• Kasia Malendowicz -- 500 free, 6th place

• Isabella Weiner -- 100 breaststroke, 8th place

The team, including Margaux Weiner as a relay swimmer, will travel to Ithaca Nov. 20-21 to compete in the New York State Championships.
