MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. - The Cinderella run came to an end for Horace Greeley High School's boys varsity soccer team on Tuesday, as they were eliminated from the regional tournament following a 1-0 loss to Newburgh Free Academy in Middletown.
To make it to the regionals, the 13th-seeded Quakers upset No. 3 John Jay-East Fishkill last Saturday by the score of 2-1 in the finals of the Section 1 Class AA tournament. They also beat No. 4 Suffern, No. 5 Scarsdale and No. 8 Clarkstown South. It was the team's first section title since 2007.
