CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. – Horace Greeley High School's boys basketball team resumes its schedule with a non-league game Friday when it hosts Briarcliff. Tip-off is 6:45 p.m.

The Quakers have struggled this season and are coming off a 62-56 loss to Croton-Harmon.

The Briarcliff contest will feature the intriguing match-up of Briarcliff big man Brian Daniels and Quakers star Harrison Brown. The 6-foot-4 Greeley senior has scored 13, 28, 30, 20, 17, 28, 12, 25 and 20 points in nine games this year. Unfortunately, the Quakers are 2-7 in those games.

The Bears stubbed their toes in a 54-38 loss to Byram Hills on Sunday at Manhattan College. Still, Briarcliff is 9-2 this year and has emerged as the team to beat in Section 1 Class B.

Daniels has led the way for Briarcliff this season. The 6-foot-4 senior struggled against the Bobcats, who held him to just 14 points and five rebounds, but that game was an anomaly all around for the Bears.

Prior to that, Daniels had game totals of 29, 32, 18, 24 and 16 points.

Daniels’ defense has also been excellent for much of the season. Even in the loss to Byram Hills, he managed to force the Bobcats’ 6-foot-7 center, Andrew Groll, into three fouls in the first quarter.

The Quakers will need to solve the Daniels problem to win this one. Daniels knows how to make his man draw fouls, and Greeley cannot afford to pick up too many early whistles.

If Greeley can slow Daniels down, then the Quakers have a chance to pull out the win.
