The 6’4” senior is part of an experienced, deep Greeley team that entered the 2012-13 season with seven seniors and three juniors. Brown now has a chance to do something special with his friends and teammates in his final high school season.

“I’ve been playing with Teddy Graves and Matt Xie for almost eight years now,” Brown said. “It’d be great to go all the way to the County Center, play Mount Vernon. That’s the goal. Doesn’t matter if we win or lose. Just get there. That’s it.”

Brown has been a nightmare for opposing defenses in his time with the Quakers. Last season, Byram Hills guard Jeff Lynch said the entire key to the Bobcats’ matchup with Greeley was “boxing out Harrison Brown.”

“If he gets on the offensive boards, we’re kind of dead,” Lynch said in January.

Brown and the Quakers should have played three games before they went into a matchup with Ossining on Monday. But two cancellations resulted in just one game, which Greeley lost, 70-51, to Mahopac.

The senior forward said Monday that he was just itching to get out on the court.

“Playing late is never good as you can see when we played on Wednesday (against Mahopac). It just didn’t work out,” Brown said. “But we’re ready now and in January we’ve got a lot of games. So hopefully that’s good. So we’ve just got to keep our heads up and see what happens.”

Brown has plenty to look forward to in his final high school season, particularly if the Quakers can make a run in the playoffs. But he already has some tentative plans for college that include playing basketball at a Division III school, though he has yet to figure out which one.

“Hopefully I’ll know sooner or later,” Brown said.
