Chappaqua Swim Team Sweeps to Victory Over Birchwood

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. - The Chappaqua Swim Team won its fourth straight Northern Westchester Swimming Conference Division 1 dual meet with a 279-238 victory Birchwood.

Chappaqua has won nine dual meets in a row dating to the start of the 2012 season.

Tessa D'Alessandro won the 8-Under girls backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly events and teammates Kasia Malendowicz (14-Under girls backstroke, butterfly and freestyle), Zoe Kerrich (18-Under girls breast, fly, free) and Christopher Koster (18-Under boys diving, back, fly) each won three events for the winners.

Chappaqua's Wyatt Yates (Chappaqua) swam a 39.70 to break a 32-year-old record in the 10-Under boys 50-meter backstroke. The old record was a 39.88, was set by Jim Quinn on July 7, 1981.

Birchwood's Ava Franks won the 10-Under girls backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle and Noelle Kaufmann took the 12-Under girls breast, fly, freestroke. Ava Franks (Birchwood) swam a 37.30 to break a record set on July 21, 2007. The previous record of 37.50 was held by Genna McLaughlin of Yorktown.

Chappaqua had double wins from Joe Weiner in the 10-Under boys butterfly and freestyle and John Koster in the 13-Under boys diving and 14-Under boys breaststroke. Birchwood's Evan Wohl, Garrett Kiesel and Tyler Hill each won two events.
