The Town of New Castle Recreation and Parks Commission maintain seven parks, totaling 517 acres. Recreation Field features a multi-purpose athletic field, including a lighted baseball field which is used by the town's youth leagues, men's softball and "The Over 30" baseball programs, and a Gazebo where town-sponsored summer concerts are held. A playground, built and funded by community volunteers, is located next to the Recreation Field behind New Castle Town Hall. Gedney Park offers hiking and walking trails, scenic views, ice skating, sledding, picnic area and shelter, year-round comfort station, playground, soccer fields, tennis courts, horseshoe pits and baseball fields.

Bicentennial Park - Duck Pond offers a quiet pond, walking bridge and sitting area, along with a capsule to commemorate our country's Bicentennial Celebration in 1976. Whippoorwill Park features both a marked trail system and rugged terrain for hiking, and lends itself well to wildlife observation including birding. Millwood Park facilities include seasonal restrooms, a softball field, a children's play area and tennis courts. Smith Park is a neighborhood park which offers a limited multi-purpose athletic field, playground and half-court basketball area.

Glazier Arboretum offers trails through open fields and forest and scenic views, and also, along with Whippoorwill Park, lends itself well to wildlife observation including birding. In addition to the parks, school facilities also host events and programs.
