CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. - Peter Kuczma will be returning as the Chappaqua school district's athletic director a decade after leaving the district.

Kuczma will be replacing Steve Young, whose resignation was approved Wednesday night by the Chappaqua Central School District Board of Education.

Schools Superintendent Lyn McKay confirmed that Young is leaving to become director of physical education, health and athletics in the New Rochelle school district. He will replace John Magnotta who resigned in June.

Kuczma's hiring is on an interim basis and he will serve as athletic director for the 2012-13 school year, McKay said. He will officially take over the position Monday.

"We are delighted have Peter," McKay said.

To take the new position, Kuczma had to resign from his job as supervisor of athletics. He was appointed to that position at a June 19 board meeting.

Kuczma was athletic director in Chappaqua until 2002, and has since worked as interim athletic director for the Croton-Harmon and Putnam Valley school districts.
