Districts in Mount Vernon, New Rochelle, Ossining (K-9), Peekskill, Greenburgh (Central), and White Plains are among the public schools that reopen on Wednesday, Sept. 3.

School districts in Yonkers, Rye, Port Chester, Ossining (10-12), Pocantico Hills, Eastchester, Harrison and others open on Thursday, Sept. 4.

Commuters and other motorists are warned to use added caution as school buses pick up and drop off students along roadways and other youngsters walk or ride bicycles to school.

All area school districts are in preparation mode with each holding Staff Development and Superintendent's Day meetings for staff, administration and faculty.

For those who are looking forward in the calendar, the first common school holiday in Westchester public schools will be Rosh Hashana on Sept. 25 and 26.
