CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. – The Chappaqua Central School District will continue its budget season with a school board meeting Wednesday night at 8:15 p.m. in Horace Greeley High School.
The meeting follows in the footsteps of Superintendent Lyn McKay’s initial proposal on Feb. 27 and last week’s meeting, which went into further detail of how the proposed budget would impact special education, curriculum and athletics.
McKay’s proposal comes in at $114,828,088 — $2,625,200 more than 2012-13 — and represents a 2.34 percent increase and 2.4 percent tax levy increase. It also includes 12.39 job cuts, 8.9 of them being teach positions.
“We are tighter; we know. But we will be okay,” said McKay said in February. “What this budget will do is move our programs forward in terms of education, which is most important.”
Wednesday night’s meeting is also planning to vote on a newly proposed contract with the Chappaqua Administrator’s Association—one of the district’s unions. The new deal would run from 2013-15, according to the meeting’s agenda.
If approved, it would join Chappaqua Congress of Teacher’s recent union agreement, which had a positive impact on McKay’s budget proposal.
