LWV Seeking Candidates for Chappaqua BOE Election

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. - One spot on the Chappaqua Central School District Board of Education will be up for election in May, and New Castle's League of Women Voters is looking for interested candidates to make it a contested race.

Alyson Kiesel, who currently serves as the board's president, is the only member of the five-member board with an expiring term. According to League of Women Voters member Lea Barth, she has indicated her intention to run for a second term.

The Chappaqua PTA and the League of Women Voters have joined together to host an informational meeting about the election at 7:30 p.m. March 28 in the Robert E. Bell School Library.

At the meeting, Chappaqua residents will find out about how to become a board of education candidate, and current or past board of education members will be making a presentation on the responsibilities and requirements of the position.

Anybody interested in running for the seat should contact the district's clerk, Theresa Markley, at (914) 238-7225 to obtain a petition. The deadline for filing the petition is 5 p.m. April 16. The election will be May 15 at the Horace Greeley High School Gymnasium.
