O'Brien was honored April 8 by BOCES teacher Deborah Ashley at a Chappaqua Board of Education meeting for his achievements in the New Visions program. O'Brien was awarded a medal and a certificate of recognition.

“Kevin was nominated as a Student of Distinction because he is an amazing student and an incredible citizen,” Ashley said. In addition to his work in BOCES' New Visions Environmental Science and Sustainability Program, O'Brien also interns at the Greenburgh Nature Center in Scarsdale.

O'Brien wants to pursue a career as a naturalist due to his interest in animals and the natural world.

“I really appreciate the New Visions program," said O'Brien. "It’s given me the guidance that I need to focus on my passion."
