Christine Petrillo, a 17-year employee in the Chappaqua school district, denies that she encouraged any students to speak out against the school district’s apparent intent to dismiss Student Life Coordinator Kristen Spillane, according to The Examiner.

Still, Horace Greeley's principal told Petrillo she was going to be removed from her position as head of the department, according to The Examiner, which reported that she will be replaced on April 17 when classes resume after spring break.

Spillane had enjoyed the support of a vocal group of Horace Greeley students who repeatedly urged the school board not to terminate her position.

Petrillo also spoke out publicly, urging the school board during a Jan. 25 school board meeting to keep Spillane in the district, according to The Examiner, which reported that Petrillo believes her relationships with the district began to dissolve as a result of her actions.

Spillane submitted a formal letter of resignation on March 8, according to The Examiner, which said that the student life coordinator will officially leave the district on June 30.
