McKay will recommend Corsilia to the Chappaqua school board at its meeting, Wednesday, June 4. However, Corsilia will not assume the post until July 1, 2015, as Michael Kirsch, the current interim principal, will stay on for a second school year.
Describing the one-year transition, McKay cited a desire to serve both schools.
"This unique opportunity allows us to be sure that both Greeley and Seven Bridges are well-served. Andrew will see next year's senior class through to graduation. He will continue to work on a number of significant program initiatives at Greeley that are already underway. At the same time, he will begin to know the Seven Bridges community, its staff, students and parents. He will have a year in which to study the school's history and culture. All the while, Seven Bridges will remain under the outstanding stewardship of Dr. Kirsch."
Before becoming an assistant principal, Corsilia was an English teacher at Greeley and has 16 total years of experience at the school.
The prolonged search for a Seven Bridges principal, which has had multiple rounds, began in 2013 with the resignation of Martha Zornow. After an initial round,, although there was nobody the administration wanted to put forward, according to school board President Jeffrey Mester.
