The students lesson integrated science, math, communication skills, arts, and social studies through hands-on activities, such as preparing the eggs, setting up the incubator, recording progress, turning eggs, and candling.

Candling involves shining a bright light into the egg, illuminating its contents to learn which of the chickens’ eggs are fertile and will hatch into baby chicks.

Students have now moved on to providing for the needs of the chicks.
