Chappaqua Students Earn National Merit Scholarships

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. -- The Chappaqua school district congratulated three of its high school seniors recently for earning college scholarships from the National Merit Scholarship program.

Horace Greeley seniors Graham Blair, Chris Evanko and Jordan Schmolka each received a $2,500 National Merit Scholarship, according to the school district.

The scholarship winners were selected from more than 15,000 finalists in the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Program. According to the district, they were chosen for having the strongest combination of accomplishments, skills and potential for success in college.

According to the district, Blair, Evanko and Schmolka submitted applications that were thoroughly reviewed by a committee of college admissions officers.

According to the school district, one of the students' peers, Liam Fenlon, also received praised for the school district for earning a prestigious corporate-sponsored scholarship from the PwC Charitable Foundation Inc., which has awarded millions of dollars in scholarships over the years.
