The budget, which is more than $116.8 million, includes a spending increase of 1.77 percent and a tax levy (total tax revenue) hike of 1.69 percent. The estimated tax rates, which guide what is owed, are increases of 1.54 percent in New Castle and 1.34 percent in Mount Pleasant.

Meanwhile, school board incumbents Victoria Tipp and Karen Visser ran unopposed and won. Tipp received 802 votes while Visser got 797.

The numbers are unofficial and only include machine and absentee ballots, according to the school district, and do not include affidavit ballots.
