Byram Hills Voters Overwhelmingly Approve School Budget

ARMONK, N.Y. -- Voters in the Byram Hills School District threw their support behind the 2014-15 budget, approving it 722 votes to 199 on Tuesday.

The $87.7 million budget increases spending 4.6 percent, with a tax levy increase of 3.6 percent, which is within the state tax cap.

North Castle residents will see taxes increase 3.61 percent, New Castle residents will see taxes increase 4.59 percent, Bedford residents will see taxes decrease 6.79 percent and Mount Pleasant residents will see taxes increase 4.36 percent.

Ira Schulman and Brett Summers ran unopposed for the school board.

"I am extremely pleased by the support this reflects," Schools Superintendent William Donohue said. "I want the community to know the district remains committed to providing excellence in every program and accountability throughout our work."
