Results from the district show that the budget received 822 votes in favor to just 159 votes against.

The budget calls for spending $89,881,446, an increase of 1.3 percent from the current school year.

The tax levy, which is the total amount of property tax revenue to be collected for the budget, will go up by 0.40 percent. The levy hike is within a state-mandated cap that limits annual increases.

Tax rates, which measure what Byram Hills taxpayers will owe per $1,000 of assessed property values, will go down by 0.66 percent in North Castle and down by 4.39 percent in Bedford. Tax rates will go up in Mount Pleasant and New Castle by respective percentages of 2.60 and 0.80.

Tax rates are different between the district's four communities because the towns do not assessed their properties at the same percentages as their respective market values. As a result, an equation called the equalization rate is used to apportion the tax burden.

Tax rates, unlike tax levies, are not subject to caps.

Meanwhile, voters elected Lara Stangel and Mia DiPietro to two spots on the 7-member school board. The district did not disclose how many votes the pair received in their elections.
