Suspect Nabbed In Robbery Of Man Sitting In Car On Busy Long Island Roadway

A man has been charged with committing a robbery on Long Island by reaching into a vehicle and demanding money before stealing a victim's cell phone and running away.

Antonio Orozco, 32, of Phoenix, Arizona, was arrested around 5:50 p.m., Monday, Dec. 7, in Uniondale, police said.

According to detectives, Orozco approached a 54-year-old man, who was sitting in his car with the window open in front of 940 Front Street and demanded money from him. 

After refusing the demand, Orozco reached into the car, took the victim’s cell phone, and fled the scene on foot, police said.

Responding officers were able to locate Orozco a short distance away.

Orozco was charged with robbery and will be arraigned in Mineola on Tuesday, Dec. 8.
