Paroled James Bond Gang Associate, Alleged Accomplice Back Behind Bars

TEANECK, N.J. – Just months out of prison, a pair of ex-cons -- one with ties to the infamous James Bond Gang -- were arrested by a Bergen County task force in connection with a string of home burglaries throughout the state.

Jerry Montgomery, 35, of Hackensack had been out on parole since October after serving nearly three years for burglary when authorities arrested him and 37-year-old Darrius Brown in Teaneck on Tuesday, hours after they burglarized a Middlesex County residence, acting Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir Grewal said.

Brown was released from state prison in December after serving more than three years on drug and child abuse convictions, records show.

Tuesday's arrests cap a month-long investigation by a task force comprised of members of Grewal’s Special Investigations Squad and officers from several local police departments and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office, the prosecutor said.

Montgomery was associated with several founders of the Bond Gang, a group of former high school classmates from Teaneck and Englewood who earned the nickname for a tricked-out BMW with a hidden electronic compartment, halogen lights tucked behind the rear license plate to blind pursuing police and a tailpipe that spewed oil.

He spent three years in state prison on a burglary conviction (2006 to 2009) before returning to crime, records show: Arrested several times over the next few years, Montgomery went back to prison in 2013.

Detectives began watching him again after learning that Montgomery was “actively participating in residential burglaries throughout the state,” Grewal said.

He and Brown remained held on $100,000 bail each in the Bergen County Jail, charged with conspiracy to commit burglary, after being arraigned Wednesday.
