Marie Johns, Deputy Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration, will be in Yonkers on Wednesday to meet with local officials and view ongoing response and recovery efforts after Hurricane Sandy.
While in Yonkers, Johns will join Mayor Mike Spano on a tour of Altman Lighting Co. Inc., one of the many small businesses that suffered damage during the storm.
As a result of Westchester County being declared a federal disaster area, Yonkers residents and businesses are eligible to apply for financial help from the SBA.
That includes the ability to apply for “Disaster Loans,” which, for business, are meant to assist in covering the cost of damage or help fund payrolls and operating costs.
The loans, which borrowers may have up to 30 years to pay off, are the same type offered to victims of hurricanes Irene and Katrina.
