The play was written by Ernest Thompson in 1979. Nancy Larsen and Joe Carlisle, of Putnam Valley, who are husband and wife in real life, play the aging couple, Norman and Ethel Thayer. Chelsea, the recalcitrant daughter, is played by Vanessa Freeman, who recently appeared in "1776" at the Depot. Her fiancé, the dentist Billy Ray, is played by Steve Andresen, who portrayed Atticus in the Depot production of "To Kill a Mockingbird."

Bryce Edwards returns, playing the grandson, and Ken Straus plays Charlie the mailman. Nancy Swann, who most recently directed sold-out performances of "1776" and "To Kill a Mockingbird" at the Depot Theatre, has brought together this cast and crew. The intimate stone and cedar cabin was designed by Chris Nowak. Lighting designer is Michael Mell, with costumes by Raquel Vidal. Tyler Mell joins in as stage and properties manager.
