In Mamaroneck, 915 Lorena St. is a perfect example of the type of house moving in the coastal Westchester market. The four bedroom, three bath Colonial is located just off Route 1 and I-95, and under a mile from the Mamaroneck Metro North station. "The price point [$899,000] is good for the area and school district, and it's a turnkey renovation with a short walk to town and schools," said Marylin Hoffman, a William Raveis broker. "Homeowners have the availability to use lovely Mamaroneck Harbor Beach and walk to the water."

In Armonk, restored historical listings are always hot sellers, according to broker Lisa Theiss. 441 Bedford Rd. -- also known as the Thomas Brundage home -- is currently for sale and boasts nearly 250 years of history. The two acre property is complete with a detached cottage, barn and in-ground pool. Despite the home's historical value, the interior has been completely renovated with a modern overhaul, which has created a more move-in-ready property.

Further north in Carmel, agent Cindy Haas has seen a growing number of city residents head to the country for secondary residences. "The trend I've seen is people buying listings outside of New York City for a weekender," she said. Her listing at 809 Golf Ridge Rd. is just that. "We call it an escape property. Although it's right off the Taconic and is a very easy house to get to, it makes you feel like you're in the Adirondacks." The 1930-built home is part of The Sedgewood Club, which offers private golfing, tennis, boating and fishing for the lakefront community.
