District 10 includes New Rochelle, Eastchester and Tuckahoe. Republican incumbent Sheila Marcotte will run for reelection.

Mary Jo Jacobs said she believes she can help spend tax dollars efficiently, explore shared services and negotiate contracts as she has done while managing human resources and facilities departments with multi-million dollar budgets.

“I will apply my business and volunteer experiences to ensure a cost effective, efficient legislature, ensuring that our roads and infrastructure is secure, our drinking water is safe, and our parks are well maintained and ready for people to enjoy after a hard week’s work,” she said on the steps of Daniel Webster Elementary School in New Rochelle.

Jacobs made the announcement Sunday surrounded by supporters state Sen. George Latimer, state Assemblywoman Amy PAulin, legislator Judy Myers and candidate for County Executive Noam Bramson.

The 25-year New Rochelle resident learned about the challenges of unfunded state mandates in a tax cap era through her work on various PTAs. She is currently chairing New Rochelle’s Open Space and Community Resources Committee, which is helping to rewrite the city’s Comprehensive Plan

“I believe strongly that everyone should be given opportunities to better their situation,” she said. “I support policies such as sensible funding of daycare, source of income legislation, marriage equality, and immigration reform. I will seek to create job and volunteer opportunities for all people, including those that are physically, emotionally, cognitively, and socially challenged.”
