“We were hoping they’d be here tonight with a new proposal, but the person who was supposed to be here could not make it,” New Castle Town Supervisor Susan Carpenter said Tuesday night.
New Castle Town Counsel Clinton Smith said the adjournment is simply a “reflection of a full calendar for the board."
This was Conifer’s third consecutive no show, after postponing its Town Board meeting appearances set for Feb. 12 and March 12.
On Feb. 28, the New Castle Town Board passed a Sense of the Board resolution on the controversial Chappaqua Station affordable housing proposal.
In the 12-page resolution, the board listed concerns about Conifer’s five-story, 36-unit building called Chappaqua Station for 54 Hunts Place.
A special permit from the Town Board would be needed for the proposal to go forward. The recent resolution figures to make obtaining such a permit that much more difficult for Conifer.
