Latimer, who is running for County Executive on the Democratic ticket, said if elected he would end the practice of allowing the name and likeness of County officials on all manner of directional and promotional signage and tourism materials

“Whether you’re watching TV, standing in line at Rye Playland, or picking up baggage at the County Airport, residents don’t deserve to see their County Executive waste money on self-promotion; and we’ve got better things to do with our tax-dollars,” said Latimer, a state senator.

Latimer would issue an executive order to ban the practice immediately and work with the Board of Legislators to pass a law prohibiting the practice permanently.

A spokeswoman for Astorino declined to comment. Latimer faces Legislator Ken Jenkins in the Sept. 12 Democratic primary.
