When asked by a Karen DeWitt, a public radio correspondent about the state's sexual harassment policies, Cuomo said her question was a "disservice to women."

"When you say it's state government, you do a disservice to women, with all due respect, even though you're a woman," Cuomo said. “You have it going on in journalism. What are you going to do different?”

Cuomo said he would address the issue during his State of the State address in January. in October, an aide to Cuomo resigned over allegations over sexual harassment.

The governor also brushed off a Justice Department inquiry into his administration's hiring practices and for putting employees of his office on the payrolls of state agencies and public authorities. Cuomo, who might run for the Democratic nomination for president in 2020, has hired people who worked on campaigns for Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama and placed them in agency positions.

“Have you been in Albany?” Cuomo said. “Have you covered government? Do people who have political experience get hired by government or is it a new fact for you?"
