WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Two potential presidential candidates in 2016 have ties to Westchester.

Former First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton of Chappaqua served as U.S. senator from New York and U.S. secretary of state. She is considered the frontrunner for the 2016 presidential campaign. She previously ran in 2008, losing the Democratic Party nomination to President Obama.

According to a report in Politico , Clinton is expected to launch her campaign in July and has made decisions on her top aides. The report said the time will allow Clinton to develop her message, policy and organization.

Clinton is said to face no real threat to the nomination. U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren from Massachusetts  has said she will not run, while Vice President Joe Biden wants his name out there in case Clinton's campaign implodes, according to the Politico report.

Peekskill native George Pataki, former three-term New York governor and former mayor of Peekskill, is also considering a presidential run. Pataki now lives in Garrison in Putnam County and his wife, Libby, is the Putnam County tourism director.

Pataki was in New Hampshire in January and canceled another visit last week due to a snowstorm. Pataki considered running for president in 2008 and 2012.

The former governor recently launched a super PAC called We The People, Not Washington and has been highly critical on twitter of President Obama and his policies. Pataki would likely face former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and U.S. Sen. Rand Paul from Kentucky for the Republican Party nomination.

Pataki's candidacy received an endorsement from his daughter Allison, who is promoting her new book, "The Accidental Empress."

"If my father runs for president of the United States, he would be the best person for job," Pataki said. "I would be honored to vote for him."

The Hudson Valley is no stranger to presidential politics. Besides the Clintons, former President John F. Kennedy briefly lived in Bronxville .

Former New York Gov. Nelson Rockefeller, who campaigned three times for the Republican nomination and served as vice president under President Gerald Ford, lived at the Kykuit Estate in Pocantico Hills.

Former First Lady Barbara Bush, wife of President George H.W. Bush, grew up in Rye and attended Rye Country Day School.
