Buchanan's Jackson To Announce BOL Candidacy Wednesday

BUCHANAN, N.Y. -- Village of Buchanan Trustee Duane Jackson, the same man who alerted police of an attempted car bombing in Times Square in 2010, is set to announce his candidacy for the 1st District seat on the Westchester County Board of Legislators Wednesday in Peekskill.

Jackson is set to speak in front of a crowd that will gather at around 2 p.m. at the Field Library in Peekskill, according to a press release. Jackson was elected to the Village of Buchanan Board of Trustees in May 2012 but gained notoriety in May 2010 when he alerted authorities to a bomb-laden SUV parked near his Time Square newsstand. 

“It’s time for the residents of Westchester’s First Legislative District to be represented at the County by a strong leader dedicated to providing the consistent service and open governance they deserve,” said Jackson in a press release. “I promise to work hard and partner with others to build a strong future for our communities.” Jackson is also the "president of the Vietnam Veterans of America Joseph Kaswan Chapter 817, has served as a member of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives and his local volunteer fire department," according to a press release. Jackson spent 15 years as a professional City Planner for the New York City Board of Education, according to the release. Jackson and his wife Linda are parents of two Hendrick Hudson High School graduates, Tiffany and Duane, Jr., according to the release.
