Woman Behind Bars After Stabbing Male Acquaintance While Walking In Area

A 34-year-old woman is behind bars after a dispute with a male acquaintance turned violent while they were walking on the Dutchess Turnpike in Town of Poughkeepsie, police say.

Jolene R. Fassino of Poughkeepsie and the man were involved in a dispute Sunday night, June 24 when she took out a pocket knife she was carrying and stabbed the victim in the left leg, according to Town of Poughkeepsie Police.

A passing motorist was flagged down and called 911.

The man was transported to Vassar Brothers Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Fassino was charged with second-degree assault, a felony. After being arraigned in Town of Poughkeepsie Court, Fassino was remanded to Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond. She is due back in court Tuesday, June 26.
