Residents Should Be On Alert After Burglary, New Castle Police Say

NEW CASTLE, N.Y. -- New Castle Police are reminding residents to be on alert following a burglary that took place on Frog Rock Road at 5 a.m. on Sunday.

The homeowner was awakened by a noise in the house found the front door wide open and a stranger standing in her kitchen, police said.

The burglar removed cash from the homeowner’s wallet which had been left overnight on the kitchen counter. On being confronted in the kitchen, the burglar fled the scene on foot, police said.

The stranger is described as a white male approximately 25 years old, standing 5-feet 5-inches tall blue jeans a light colored t-shirt and a baseball cap, police said.

The victim said this is the third time in recent months that cash has gone missing from her wallet. A police canvass identified another Frog Rock Road resident who now reports cash missing from his home about two weeks ago, police said.

Police are advising residents of the Frog Rock Road, Whippoorwill Road area to take extra precautions by locking doors and windows and set alarm systems even while at home.

Do not leave cash or wallets in plain sight and look out your neighbors as well.
