MILLWOOD, N.Y. – The groundbreaking and estimated 16-month construction plan for the new Millwood Firehouse has been set to begin mid-July.
The Millwood Board of Fire Commissioners was scheduled to approve the base bids received for the construction on Monday. The base bids that were up for approval totaled just over $10 million, which was more than $61,000 under budget, according to the board of fire commissioners.
Millwood Fire District voters approved a bond referendum in 2011 for up to $13.95 million in spending for the new firehouse.
The commissioners board said the fire department expects to move to its new home on the fire company’s original firehouse’s 90th anniversary.
Construction is expected to be completed by late fall 2014.
